Background
We adapt the December 24, 1939 episode of The Campbell Playhouse starring Lionel Barrymore as Edeneezer Scrooge, Orson Welles as the narrator, and other members of the former Mercury Theatre on the Air.
The story is familiar. Ebenezer Scrooge, a miser cold of heart and spirit, is tranformed by Ghosts of Christmas into a kind, generous, and compassionate man. He gives Bob Cratchit a raise and becomes a second father to Tiny Tim. The point: humanity outweighs riches, and brings redemption.
